Discover the Best of Fort Payne and Lookout Mountain

Things To Do

DeSoto State Park

Waterfalls, wildflowers, and winding trails. DeSoto State Park is the crown jewel of Fort Payne, and it’s just minutes from your cabin.

Start your morning with a hike along one of the park’s many trails, where the sound of rushing water pulls you toward breathtaking sights like Laurel Falls or Lost Falls. In the spring, wildflowers line the paths in a rainbow of color, while autumn turns the forest into a patchwork of red, gold, and orange.

Adventure-seekers can try mountain biking or kayaking on the West Fork of the Little River, while families love the easy, scenic boardwalk trails that wind past overlooks and shaded picnic spots. And when the weather warms, the swimming hole near the picnic area is perfect for cooling off after a day in the sun.

No matter the season, DeSoto delivers something unforgettable. It’s the kind of place where couples stop to snap photos at overlooks, and everyone ends the day a little more tired… and a lot more alive.

Little River Canyon

Carved deep into Lookout Mountain, Little River Canyon is often called the “Grand Canyon of the East.” And once you stand at the rim, you’ll see why. Towering cliffs, winding river views, and overlooks that stretch for miles make it one of Alabama’s most breathtaking natural wonders.

Four of our cabins are within 5 miles of the falls, giving you front-row access to the park’s best sights. From the main overlook, you can watch the river crash into the canyon below, or follow the road that winds along the rim for stop-after-stop of jaw-dropping views.

On warm days, head down to the swimming holes below the falls or explore the sandstone cliffs and hidden trails that hug the river. Photographers, hikers, and anyone who loves wide-open views will find endless ways to spend a day here.

And when you’re ready to call it a night? Your cabin is just minutes away, waiting with a stocked kitchen, cozy bed, and maybe even a hot tub to soak in.

Mentone

Tucked into the mountains just minutes from our cabins, Mentone is one of those towns that feels like it belongs in another time. With its winding streets, cozy cafés, and locally owned shops, it’s the perfect change of pace after a day outdoors.

Spend the afternoon browsing art galleries filled with mountain-inspired work, or pick up handmade pottery and antiques that tell their own stories. When hunger hits, grab a wood-fired pizza, homemade fudge, or a hot cup of coffee from one of the town’s friendly eateries.

In every season, Mentone has its own magic. Spring and summer bring live music and outdoor festivals. Fall covers the town in color and fills the farmers market with fresh produce. Winter slows everything down and makes a warm drink by the fire even more inviting.

What Guests Are Saying

The perfect getaway for my husband and I, celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary. It is in a great location, private but still close to restaurants and things to do!  We will be saving this spot and will be coming back to stay again

On staying at fox trot cabin

We had the best relaxing time staying at Coyote’s Den. The cabin is absolutely beautiful! The area is so peaceful and centrally located between downtown Fort Payne and Desoto Falls. Perfect location!! We enjoyed sitting on the back deck during the morning and watching the deer pass through.

On staying at Coyote's Den

This place was just so perfect for me and my husband. It was so so comfortable and peaceful to sit out on the back porch, get in the hot tub, or just unwind watching a great movie. This is by far my most favorite new place now. Trying to figure out how to get back quicker
